Drumlanrig Castle is a pink sandstone mansion in Dumfries and Galloway that has stood for over 600 years. It began as a Douglas stronghold, survived English raids and Scottish civil wars, and became the home of the Dukes of Buccleuch. The castle has four stories, seventeen turrets, and a courtyard that opens onto the Nithsdale valley. It still belongs to the Montagu-Douglas-Scott family, and visitors may enter only on a guided tour.

Drumlanrig Castle was built by the Douglas family in the late 16th century and later held by the Maxwells, becoming a key seat of the Douglas-Home earls of Wigtown. It is important as a well-preserved example of late medieval and early Renaissance architecture in Scotland.
