Drumgriffin Castle stands as a broken wall on a slight rise above low ground, belonging to Ullig Rewgh in 1574. The stone has lost every chamber, doorway and room, leaving only a short length of grey surface to mark where the building stood. Ullig may have watched the flat land from that height, but the castle forgot its own shape and surrendered to the sky.

On a slight rise in an otherwise low-lying area. In existence in 1574 when it was in the possession of 'Ullig Rewgh' (Nolan 1901b, 118). Only a short length of walling (L 5.8m, H 5.5m max.) survives; no architectural features are visible. Drumgriffin Castle was held by 'Ullig Rewgh' in 1574 and is remembered as a historical site associated with early modern Irish landholding. Its remains, though minimal, provide evidence of medieval or early modern defensive structures in an otherwise low-lying landscape.
