Drum Castle Policies holds two post-medieval dykes near Drumoak, their earth still marking a boundary drawn between 1561 and 1899. The line may have excluded livestock, defined ownership or kept castle grounds separate from common land. Walking that quiet stretch is imagining the hands that raised it and the people who first read the earth as a limit.
