This grey commemorative plaque records: The Drill Hall built 1914 (in use until 1996) 8th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters Recorded plaque organisation: Newark Archaeological & Local Historical Society (NALHS).
The Drill Hall served as the training facility for the 8th Battalion of The Sherwood Foresters, a regiment with significant service in World War I and World War II. Its construction in 1914 reflects the military preparedness efforts leading up to World War I.
