Dr Challoner's High School in Little Chalfont was founded in 1622 by Dr Thomas Challoner, a local landowner and magistrate, to provide education for the daughters of the gentry and professional classes. It is one of the oldest girls' schools in England and has played a significant role in the history of women's education.
