Downshire Bridge

Downshire Bridge crossed the River Lagan at Dromore in 1885, replacing an older unnamed stone crossing that had carried traffic since the 1730s. William J. Doloughan built its matching granite arches for the Marquis of Downshire, while Regent Bridge took the main Dublin road. The finished structure still stands beside the market square, preserving the chambered brickwork and dated granite slab beneath its chamfered coping.
