Douglas Castle and Douglas Golf Club occupy the same South Lanarkshire landscape, yet one belongs to memory and the other to footwork. The castle name suggests a lost tower or lordly chamber, while the golf course presents a familiar green expanse where people still walk and strike balls. Both remain visible under the same sky, one faded into legend and one maintained for ordinary pleasure.

Douglas Castle was a medieval stronghold held by the Douglas family, prominent figures in Scottish history during the 13th to 15th centuries. It is remembered for its strategic importance in the Wars of Scottish Independence and as the site of the execution of James Douglas, Earl of Douglas, in 1440.
