Why this matters

A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath); wider significance not recorded.

What is recorded here

Situated on the E side of a ridge, on low-lying pasture, with good views to SE. Ringfort (WM025-085----) lies c. 120m to SE. Monument described in 1971 as a much disturbed sub-rectangular shaped area (dims. approx. 20m N-S) enclosed by a low bank visible at the NE and SE, which is almost reduced to a scarp elsewhere. The perimeter is obscured by modern walls to SW and NW. There is no visible trace of an external fosse and no entrance visible. The interior has a slight ESE-facing slope and has small field clearance mounds of loose stones. See attached profile of monument surveyed and drawn by the ASI. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 12 September 2019
