Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Doll, St. Machan's Chapel as Chapel (medieval)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

St. Machan is a lesser-known early Scottish saint, traditionally associated with the Pictish region, and his chapel may have been linked to local healing traditions or pastoral care in medieval times. Little folklore survives about him, but such chapels often served as focal points for community worship and seasonal rituals.
