What is recorded here

Castle Mains Cottages stand on Main Road in Dirleton, built during the 19th Century when local work and life still moved with the land. The small buildings may have housed farmhands, cart drivers or families tied to the estate, their kitchens hot and loud after long days outside. They are not a showpiece for strangers, but a domestic address where ordinary people lived, paid their way and left the place changed.
