Dirleton Castle, Tower

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dirleton Castle, Tower as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Dirleton Castle, Tower was built by the de Vaux family in the 13th century and later held by the Crichton family, becoming a key stronghold in East Lothian. It is important as a well-preserved example of a medieval tower house and for its historical associations with Scottish nobility and the Wars of Scottish Independence.
