Dinton Folly is an octagonal castle built in 1769 by Sir John Vanhatten to display fossil collections inside its limestone walls. The structure stood ruined beside a Saxon burial ground for centuries while local stories claimed the hermit John Bigg still haunted the caves beneath it. Jaime Fernandez and his wife Mimi bought the danger-marked ruin in 2016, transformed it into a bright family home by 2018, and proved that even a forgotten eyecatcher can become a living place when someone believes it is worth saving.
