Deserted medieval site adjoining Castle Camps

Scheduled monument

What is recorded here

Medieval hands shaped the flat pasture beside Castle Camps into house platforms, a deep hollow way and quarry pits before the castle fell quiet and the village followed it into loss. The earth still holds the footprint of that departure, marked by scattered pottery and scars left when later tools cut through the old walls. What remains is a quiet invitation to imagine the people who built, lived and left the place behind.
The National Heritage List for England records Deserted medieval site adjoining Castle Camps as a scheduled monument. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
