DECORATED CAVE: GILLIES' CAVE (unlocated) in Gortgor

DECORATED CAVE: GILLIES' CAVE (unlocated)

What is recorded here

Gillies' Cave in County Fermanagh remains unlocated despite carrying the rare label of a decorated cave. That missing point does not diminish the claim; it sharpens the loss. A cave is not a vague idea. It is a chamber, a floor, a roof and a distance from daylight. Someone saw enough decoration to separate the place from ordinary rock. The cave may still hold that much, waiting to be found and told without invention.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as DECORATED CAVE: GILLIES' CAVE (unlocated). Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
