This blue commemorative plaque records: THE MILL CLOSE DAWSON CROSSLEY FIELD. This land & river bank were given by JOHN CROSSLEY & JOSHUA DAWSON to The Overseers of the Poor of Addingham in 1685-1686 for the perpetual benefit of village residents. The ownership & income were transferred by order of The Charity Commission in 1972 to Addingham United Charity. Recorded plaque organisation: Addingham United Charity.
John Crossley and Joshua Dawson were prominent local figures who donated land and riverbank to support the poor of Addingham, establishing a lasting charitable legacy that continues to benefit village residents.
