This bronze commemorative plaque records: 125th Anniversary 1864 - 1989 Arrival of Railway Service in Dartmouth. To commemorate the landing place of the first passengers using the railway. 10th August 1864.
The Dartmouth and Torbay Railway, established in 1864, significantly improved transportation links between Dartmouth and the rest of Devon, facilitating economic growth and tourism in the region.
