Dargavel House is a castle in Renfrewshire whose oldest chamber is a Z-plan tower built by the Maxwell family in 1584. David Bryce added a wing between 1849 and 1851, while Peter MacGregor Chalmers remodelled it in 1910 before ROF and BAE changed it again. It still stands inside the former factory boundary, a domestic ghost beside the immense wartime machine that swallowed its farms.
