This green commemorative plaque records: Daniel Lambert of Leicester 1770-1809 died here on the 21st June 1809 aged 39 years when the building was the Waggon and Horses Inn. Shortly before his demise he weighed 52 stone 11 pounds Recorded plaque organisation: Daniel Lambert Society.
Daniel Lambert, born in Leicester in 1770, was a notable figure for his extraordinary weight; he is remembered as one of the earliest recorded English men of enormous size, which led to public exhibitions and increased awareness about obesity.
