This commemorative plaque records: 'D' and 'S' Companies of the 10th Battalion, the Parachute Regiment were billeted here from December 1943 until leaving for the battle of Arnhem (Operation Market Garden) on 18th September 1944
'D' and 'S' Companies of the 10th Battalion, the Parachute Regiment were part of the British Airborne Forces that participated in Operation Market Garden, notably the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944, where they faced heavy casualties while attempting to secure key bridges over the Rhine.
