Culzean Castle Policies, Hoolity Ha Bridge

Bridge (19th Century)

What is recorded here

Hoolity Ha Bridge carries footsteps across dark water inside Culzean Castle Policies, a private estate where public curiosity must stop at the boundary. Its nineteenth-century stones suggest people once crossed without thinking about ownership, perhaps servants, hunters or children chasing rabbits through reeds. The castle keeps its own time, larger and more stubborn than memory, while the bridge does the simple work of joining one living bank to the other.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Culzean Castle Policies, Hoolity Ha Bridge as Bridge (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
