Culross Abbey is associated with Saint Fillan, a 7th-century Irish monk and healer who founded a monastery in the area. The site is linked to traditions of miraculous cures, particularly for skin diseases and lameness, and is surrounded by folklore involving holy wells and sacred springs used for pilgrimage and ritual washing.
