What is recorded here

This stone is currently incorporated into the interior E wall of a church (TS075-023001-). It is described by Okasha and Forsyth (2001, 267-8) as a small slab (H c. 0.17m; Wth c. 0.5m; T c. 0.05m visible) and is 'part of a slab of unknown form. Its visible face contains part of the lower arm of a cross which was formed by incising the outline so as to leave the cross in false relief. The cross is of unusual shape with a rectangular base or expansion to the lower arm and a short cross-arm'. It is listed as Toureen Peacaun 26 (ibid.). The stone was uncovered during the 1944 excavation (Duignan 1944, 227; Macalister 1949, 213). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
