Part of exhibition display, Visitor Centre (30 August 2005). Described by Leask (1950, 44) as ‘part of a tapering slab, now 4 feet 4 inches [1.32m] by 2 feet 2 inches [0.66m]. A single line frame encloses a ringed cross of two lines with a pointed and looped top’ . Likely dating to the early medieval period, the cross-slab features a ringed cross, a common Christian symbol from the 7th to 10th centuries. Such stones were often used as memorials or markers for religious sites, reflecting the spread of Christianity in rural areas.
