A monastery at Lemanaghan (Liath Manchán) was founded in the 7th century by Manchán whose feastday is celebrated on the 24th of January (Ó Riain 2011, 429). Early Christian slab decorated with an incised ringed cross which was discovered during conservation works on the church between 2002-06 (Quinlan and Moss 2007, 68). Early Christian period, likely 7th to 9th century; the ringed cross suggests a Christian memorial or liturgical function, possibly associated with the monastery founded by St Manchán.
