Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00288 Dimensions: Unknown. Expansional three line cross with circular centre, semicircular terminals and oval shaped (?) cross stem expansion. Inscription: 'OR DO MAEL[EO]AIN'. Evidence of discovery: Drawn by Petrie at Clonmacnoise in 1822, Condition: Now lost. Stokes, M. Date likely to the 9th to 11th century AD, consistent with early Christian cross-slabs in Ireland. The inscription may be a fragment of a personal dedication or prayer, and the cross design reflects a fusion of Insular and continental Christian artistic traditions.
