Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00208 Dimensions: H 0.405, W 0.345, T 0.03 Double outline ring cross with hollow angles surrounded by a two line frame which is composed of the lines of the cross. The centre is lozenge shaped with a roundel in it. No inscription. Evidence of discovery: Macalister 1898-1905 Condition: Fragment. Only centre and corner of border. Probably dates to the early Christian period (7th–10th century AD). The ring cross design is commonly associated with Christian symbolism and may have been used as a grave marker or commemorative monument.
