Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00361 Dimensions: H 1.115, W 0.57, T 0.05 Outline expansional cross with median line. The circular central and semicircular terminal expansions are filled with crudely executed interlace. Inscription: 'OR DOODRAN HAU EOLAIS' inscribed vertically in two lines, one on each side of cross. Evidence of discovery: Graves 1854. Condition: Complete but black stains of pollution on slab. Date likely to the early medieval period (7th–10th century AD), consistent with other Christian cross-slabs in Clonmacnoise. The design suggests a liturgical or commemorative function, possibly marking a grave or ecclesiastical boundary.
