Cross-slab in Clonmacnoise

Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00316 Dimensions: H 0.87, W 0.52, T 0.115 Outline expansional cross with median line, blank semicircular terminal expansions and a trieskilon in the circular centre expansion. Inscription: Very finely carved vertical inscription 'OR DO DUBIN RECHT'. Evidence of discovery: Macalister 1898-1905 Condition: Weathered but complete. Date likely to the 9th to 11th century AD, consistent with high crosses of the early medieval period in Ireland. The expansional cross with a trieskilon (triskele) motif may symbolize Christian spiritual concepts or have pre-Christian symbolic associations, reflecting the fusion of traditions in early Irish monastic art.
