What is recorded here

An invisible hand or a forgotten knife snapped the stone in two. What remains is a small rectangular chip, no larger than a bread loaf, with one neat letter G carved along its edge. The cross and the rest of the name are gone. Clonmacnoise keeps thousands of these broken fragments, but this one is so small it could fit in a pocket and be carried away.
