What is recorded here

No visible cross appears on the broken stone, yet it is still called a cross-slab. It stands in Clonmacnoise as a small white fragment, no taller than a child’s arm reach, with two uncertain letters marking one forgotten life. The monastery gave that person a place beside its saints, and the stone has kept the shape of that choice through every storm since.
