What is recorded here

Clonmacnoise cross-slab CLN00608 is a small broken fragment, eighteen centimetres tall and twenty-four wide, with no visible cross but the worn name AIULL still barely holding against time. It is the kind of stone that may have marked an ordinary person beside a road, a child, a teacher or a traveller, yet distance and weather have rubbed most of the claim away. What remains is not nothing; it is a name caught at the edge of forgetting, small enough to lift but heavy with everyone the field no longer distinguishes.
