What is recorded here
Clonmacnoise cross-slab CLN00149 still stands in County Offaly, a double outline ring cross with a square centre and a worn name beside the upper arm. Hennessy and Graves made an 1869 rubbing before the stones forgot much more, and the rubbing keeps what the rain has taken from the edge. Angus may have been a boy, a teacher or a traveller who stopped being a traveller; the slab no longer says which. It says only that someone lived hard enough to be remembered and died young enough to be mourned without ceremony.
