What is recorded here
Temple Ri, Clonmacnoise: A cross-shaped slab, carved in the Romanesque period, stands at the heart of a ring of stones. Its surface is so worn that the spirals or circles beneath have nearly vanished, leaving only a faint ridge to mark the edge. What the carver intended has blurred into mystery, but the shape remains: a cross laid open at the centre of a circle, waiting to be read.

Date likely to the 11th–12th century AD, associated with the Romanesque period and early Christian monastic settlement at Clonmacnoise. The cross design may symbolise Christian faith, with spiral motifs possibly reflecting earlier pre-Christian artistic traditions or symbolic meanings related to eternity or the cosmos.
