Break a holy wheel and drop the bottom half away, and what remains is not a failed circle but a small knife of light. The top fragment still carries its cross, its line and its secret division, while the missing half continues the spiral somewhere beneath the grass. Clonmacnoise keeps completing what people forgot by shaping memory into a wheel that turns through loss instead of ending at it.

Probably dates to the early medieval period, associated with Christian symbolism. The cross design suggests a liturgical or commemorative function, common in monastic or burial contexts.
