What is recorded here

Clonmacnoise is an ancient Irish monastery and burial ground in County Offaly. That is the whole of it. The smallest surviving fragment is a broken edge of a grave marker, not a complete monument. A person died there, was remembered there, and was forgotten everywhere else. The monastery still stands because people keep returning to it. The dead do not need praise. They need witnesses.
