What is recorded here

Clonmacnoise holds a tiny cross-slab fragment barely larger than a palm, preserving only ghost lines from a lost inscription. Davis found the piece in 1984, pulling a whisper of identity out of the grave field where so many names have already blurred. It is small enough to forget and sharp enough to remind us that death kept its own ledger even when mercy erased the words.
