Clonmacnoise, County Offaly: a small worn cross-slab, forty-two centimetres tall, bearing an outline cross whose arm stretches over a two-line circle. It has no inscription, leaving its person and purpose absent from the stone. In a place crowded with names and deaths, that emptiness becomes the striking part: someone made a clear shape, then time or indifference removed the explanation.

Date likely to the early Christian period (7th–10th century AD), given the cross motif and association with Clonmacnoise, a major monastic site. The cross-over-circle design may symbolize the sun or divine protection, common themes in early Irish Christian iconography.
