What is recorded here

Clonmacnoise holds a tiny cross-slab fragment, measuring barely fourteen centimetres high, preserving only part of a two-line frame and a step. It is not a complete monument but a broken edge of one, small enough to lift yet heavy with the loss of its missing body. The chamber of Clonmacnoise keeps such fragments because even a strip of stone can point back to the person, event or belief that occupied the whole.
