Clonmacnoise grave-slab inventory (1992) number: CLN00005 Dimensions: H 0.435, W 0.256, T 0.07 Two line rectangular frame divided vertically by a line in the centre of which is a linear cross in a roundel. The two halves of the design are mirrored apart from a three leaf clover on the left with a misformed swastika on the right. Possibly an altar slab. Inscription: There are the remains of an inscription. Evidence of discovery: OPW 1954-58 Condition: Complete, but some flaking scince 1954-58 photo. National Monuments Service, Photo number: 81-71, 490, 804. The Clonmacnoise inventory was compiled by the Office of Public Works. Date likely to the early medieval period (7th–10th century AD), associated with Christian monastic activity at Clonmacnoise. The cross within a roundel suggests a liturgical or commemorative function, possibly marking a burial or sacred space.
