What is recorded here
A local person remembers a cross-slab in this vicinity but no trace of it could be found. It was made of 'yellow stone', and was about 5 feet long. Although it was broken, it could be seen to have been originally decorated with a quartered-circle, the quadrants being cut out. It was situated in an area of fair pasture on a ledge at the SW end of Glencolumbkille valley.
The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Compiled by: Brian Lacey with Eamon Cody, Claire Cotter, Judy Cuppage, Noel Dunne, Vincent Hurley, Celie O'Rahilly, Paul Walsh and Seán Ó Nualláin (Lifford: Donegal County Council, 1983). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.

Likely dating to the early medieval period, the cross-slab may have been associated with Christian worship or burial practices. Its decoration could have included a Celtic cross, reflecting the spread of Christianity in the region.
