In the S sector of an ecclesiastical enclosure (TS074-010----) known as St. Berrihert's Kyle and incorporated in an oval stone enclosure, stepped internally, built by the OPW in 1946 (Ó hÉailidhe 1967, 102). This slab is located in the E sector, on top of the wall. It is described by Ó hÉailidhe (1967, 108) as slab 2A/2B, composed of grey sandstone, this slab tapers (H 0.76m; Wth at top 0.22m; Wth at base 0.18m; T 0.08m). 'It bears a Latin cross, the shaft of which is formed by a narrow panel of double ribbon twist, and each of the short arms of which is formed by an empanelled saltire. The background on either side is filled with an irregular chevron. The reverse side of the slab is decorated with a bordered panel of irregular lattice-pattern' (ibid.). Probably dates to the early medieval period, associated with Christian worship or commemoration. Likely used as a grave marker or liturgical cross, reflecting the influence of early monastic sites in the region.
