Cross (present location) in Unknown Townland

Cross (present location)

What is recorded here

One eye closed, one open, the face watches both worlds at once. Trinity Abbey gave up its cross base to a museum, but the head keeps its own secret life in stone. Wrinkles and hair still move when nobody looks.
Davies (1948, 100) recorded a cross base (now in National Museum) which is believed to have come from Trinity Abbey, Co. Cavan (CV020-077001-). The head has bulging eyes, one of which appears to be closed, a long prominent nose, wrinkles on both cheeks and hair on top. See CV020-077004-.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
