What is recorded here

This large stone cross (L 0.81m; Wth 0.4m; T 0.03m) was on Sceilg Mhichíl and is now in the care of the OPW (National Monuments Depot, Killarney). It features a flat head and two short arms, one slightly above the other and each displaying traces of rounded angles. The roughly rectangular shaft is intact. This cross has been allocated the SMR number KE066-245---- at its present location in the OPW Depot, Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. A high cross from Sceilg Mhichíl, County Kerry, built in the early medieval period, likely between the 8th and 10th centuries, associated with an early Christian monastic site; its simple design reflects the austere style of monastic crosses in the Irish Sea region.
