What is recorded here

One of two plain early Christian crosses stood in the Cartron graveyard before travelling to the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin. It left behind a hollow where prayers once gathered, carrying the memory of Ballynahinch into a distant gallery. The stone survived, but the living edge of the place faded with its removal.

This is one of two plain crosses (see also GA022-012005-), most likely of early Christian date, that was originally located in the graveyard (GA022-012001-). It now in the National Museum of Ireland, Dublin (information from Dr J. Higgins 14 June 2018).
