What is recorded here

Croft Castle has anchored the Croft family in Herefordshire since 1085, surviving financial ruin, foreign sale and a century of absence before returning to their hands in 1923. Its walls carry echoes of Owain Glyndŵr’s daughter, the blood spilled at Mortimer’s Cross, and Thomas Farnolls Pritchard’s gothic staircase. The house is not a museum of dead facts but a living record of endurance, where family pride outlasted debt and distance.
The National Heritage List for England records Croft Castle as a registered park or garden at Grade II*. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
