Crannog: Wright's Island is a man-made lake island in County Down, built during the seventeenth century or earlier Christian period. Its name suggests a local family or craftsman claimed the small island as their own, perhaps raising a house, garden or workshop above the water. The island still belongs to that human act of shaping nature, even when the house and furniture have vanished.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG: WRIGHT'S ISLAND. Recorded period: C17TH; E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
