What is recorded here
Crannog is a lost house built on logs in Gortaloughan, County Fermanagh. It may have sheltered people from rain, theft or fear, and it may have stood on pilings above wet ground. The name preserves the shape of the building even when the ground has swallowed the markers.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG or 'LOG HOUSE' (unlocated). Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
