CRANNOG: LOUGH FAUGHAN CRANNOG or LOUGH FALCON in Ballyrolly

CRANNOG: LOUGH FAUGHAN CRANNOG or LOUGH FALCON

What is recorded here

Crannog is a water-born house, a small island platform built among reeds and shadow where the lake breathes at night. It stood in Lough Faughan, County Down, during the early Christian period, when people lived close to water and made homes that rose from it. The structure has been protected since recording, though its timbers may have sunk or scattered. What remains is the shape of devotion, the discipline of building on nothing but purpose.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG: LOUGH FAUGHAN CRANNOG or LOUGH FALCON. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
