Crannog in Tullaghbeg is an artificial island in County Offaly, Ireland, built with oak piles driven into wet ground. The Geological Survey of Ireland identified the site as a crannoge, while the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit at University College Dublin compiled the place information. People may have stood on that small raised ground while water closed around it, using the oak piles to keep the island steady. The build still suggests a deliberate choice to make living space where the land itself would not hold.
