What is recorded here

Crannog is a man-made island, often built with brushwood, soil and stone, where people lived beside water rather than on dry land. In Lough Ross the old lake basin still holds that idea: a small rise above danger, with reeds, rain and distance doing the work of a wall. The name CRANNOG? preserves the shape of the place even when the field has changed around it.
